EVOLU CLASSIC THERMOMETER MERCURY-FREE
The EVOLU Classic Mercury-Free Thermometer is designed for measuring a patient’s body temperature. It can be used for oral, armpit, or rectal temperature measurements.
Compliance and Conditions of Use:
- Ensure that the temperature measurement falls within the range of 35°C to 42°C, and the environmental temperature is between 20°C to 30°C. If the thermometer has been stored below 20°C, allow it to reach room temperature for 1-2 hours before use.
- Storage and transport temperature should be between -10°C and +42°C.
Operating Procedures:
- Before use, ensure that the mercury-free liquid column is below the lowest marked scale. Clean and disinfect the thermometer with a suitable disinfectant solution.
- Note: When shaking the thermometer down, securely hold the tail end of the thermometer between your thumb and forefinger and gently swing it until the liquid drops.
- For oral use, place the thermometer below the patient’s tongue and instruct them to close their mouth tightly.
- When using the thermometer rectally, apply a water-based lubricant before insertion.
- For armpit measurements, position the thermometer below the patient’s armpit and ask them to hold their arm against their body.
- Wait approximately 5 minutes before reading the temperature.
- After use, shake the mercury-free liquid down, clean the thermometer, and place it in its protective plastic case to prevent damage.
Warnings:
- Oral clinical thermometers are not suitable for children under ten years of age.
- Patients should be cautioned against chewing, speaking, or playing while the thermometer is under their tongue.
- When using the thermometer rectally, ensure the patient lies still and holds the other end to prevent excessive insertion or slippage.
- Patients should refrain from bathing, eating, or smoking at least half an hour before taking their body temperature.
- This thermometer is not designed for specialized applications, such as measuring temperatures for premature babies or ovulation.
- Handle the thermometer with care, as the liquid inside is an alloy of gallium, indium, and tin. Avoid dropping or mishandling the instrument to prevent damage. In the event of breakage, clean up any spilled liquid with a damp cloth and soapy water.
- It is advisable to check the thermometer’s accuracy once a year.
