Yamamoto® Nutrition Carnitine 1000 is a dietary supplement containing 1000 mg tablets of Carnitine (carnitine tartrate), designed to address instances of diminished dietary intake of this essential nutrient.

Carnitine, a vitamin-like compound, plays a pivotal role in facilitating the transport of long-chain fatty acids within cellular units responsible for energy production—specifically, the mitochondria. Its significance lies in its fundamental contribution to the transport of fatty acids into the mitochondria. In the absence of adequate carnitine, the carrier molecule of fatty acids, acyl-CoA, is unable to traverse the cell membrane of the mitochondria. This deficiency results in diminished fatty acid concentration within the mitochondria, leading to a subsequent decrease in energy production.

The process involves the transfer of fatty acids from CoA to carnitine. The acyl-carnitine molecule then transports the fatty acid to the inner mitochondrial membrane’s surface, where it is released for conversion into energy (commonly referred to as ‘burning’ fat).

Carnitine serves various other physiological functions, including the conversion of ketoacid analogs of branched-chain amino acids—valine, leucine, and isoleucine. This function is particularly crucial during periods of fasting, inediation, and exercise.
