Artichoke’s history as a herb dates back to the 4th century BC. Belonging to the Asteraceae plant family, it produces distinctive large purple and green flower heads. Not to be confused with Jerusalem Artichoke, this plant has found its place in traditional herbal use and is recognized for its potential digestive benefits.

Traditionally, artichoke has been employed to alleviate discomfort in the upper abdomen or lower chest post-meals. Modern research has expanded its applications, including supporting disrupted bowel health and aiding those with impaired fat digestion.

The active compounds, particularly cynarin, are found in the leaves of the artichoke plant. Lamberts® Artichoke offers a high-potency extract standardized to 5% cynarin, providing a relevant level of 16mg cynarin per tablet.
